From September 8 to 12, the second stage of the Russian Cross-country Championship, the Kagan Gold, took place in Astrakhan and Astrakhan region. Organizers of the Silk Way Rally traditionally support the event and 2020 was no exception.
The race gathered a significant number of competitors: 46 crews in cars, trucks, motorcycles and quads. The Astrakhan region in the South of Russia is ideal for cross-country – steppes, dunes, numerous roads and Hors-piste. This is not only a great ‘training camp’ in the sands before the big events, but also a good reason to meet with rivals and assess their strength.
The Silk Way Rally Competitors Service has traditionally held a meeting with pilots and team managers to discuss plans for the 2021.
With addition of moto category in 2019, when the first riders tried their wheels on the Silk Way Rally, the interest of Russian competitors to the race increased significantly and giving the reason to think about FIM license.
As a result of the Astrakhan meeting new teams and pilots never previously taking part in major races are getting ready for the Silk Way Rally start. Among them is the Russian Mechanics factory team, the largest manufacturer of quadricycles in Russia. And of course, both moto and T1 pilots category are also looking forward to the next edition of Silk Way.
Head of the International Project Silk Way Rally Vladimir Chagin met the pilots and their teams at the bivouac of the race wishing good luck at the Astrakhan stage of the national championship.
Silk Way Rally will be held in July 2021. Entries traditionally open in mid-February 2021.
